Community Living Services Instructor
Join Achievement House, Inc. (AHI), a nonprofit with a mission dedicated to empowering and assisting individuals with disabilities, helping them to live independently and to achieve their personal and professional goals. We are currently looking for one Part-Time Community Living Services Instructor. Primarily AHI S (Santa Maria/Lompoc), but some overflow into north territory (San Luis Obispo).
Job Summary:
As a Community Living Services Instructor , you will play a pivotal role in our mission by providing support and training to individuals enrolled in our programs within their homes and within the community. This role focuses on skill development and does not involve personal care tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals in our programs in improving their development of self-advocacy skills, social skills, and financial management.
- Maintain a courteous, positive, enthusiastic, well-mannered, and professional demeanor while working with Individuals served and the community
- Ensure compliance with company programs, practices, and policies specific to program and client management.
- Teach and encourage proper leisure activities and the effective use of leisure time.
- Provide training and instructions as indicated on the Individual Service Plan (ISP) to ensure acquisition, retention, and improvement of adaptive skills and behaviors.
Qualifications:
- Valid California driver's license.
- Current auto insurance. Driving is an essential function of this position.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Patience, compassion, and the ability to be a role model for adults with disabilities.
- Flexibility and availability to work at least some weekends.
- Basic computer/technology skills and knowledge
Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Have the ability to maintain professionalism with clients, staff and willingness to work cooperatively in a team.
- Have basic knowledge of office procedures and the ability to operate business machines, computer equipment, cellphones, and adaptive equipment used in agency services without difficulty.
- The ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, twist, and walk. Employees may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50lbs.
Compensation:
The anticipated hiring rate is $23/hour . We also offer a $250.00 hiring bonus!
