Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst I shall perform the following duties utilizing computer related programs and SAP transactions. Incumbent receives minimal guidance and is expected to set priorities based on operational needs, work independently on routine matters. Incumbent must have knowledge of Department organizational structure activities. Communicating at a level required for successful job performance, exercising good judgment, and taking effective action; exercising good judgment and analyzing situations, in all contacts.

Provides analytical and technical support as the Field Division's Training Analyst. Consults with managers, Planning and Scheduling Office, and the Safety Engineers/Officers in analyzing the training techniques required for personnel and/or specific projects to ensure that proper training requirements are met and a specified level of competency is achieved through training courses. Works with management in researching and finding courses that also meet the technical training needs of trades and crafts personnel when working with and/or on equipment. Proper coordination of training programs is critical to protect employee and public safety.

Develop and implement processes, monitoring tools and reports for managers and supervisors and pro-actively manage safety and technical training for employees and ensure that records and reports are accurate, functional, retained, and user friendly.

Special Requirements

Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License as travel throughout the State of California is required.

  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems
  • Experience with scheduling and coordinating training and meetings
  • Knowledge and experience analyzing and interpreting and applying State of California policies, procedures and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to evaluate complex documents
  • The ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines in a timely manner; the ability to independently conduct research and analysis; the ability to work with staff at all levels in the organization, outside agencies and the public; and the ability to independently organize/prioritize workload to meet demands are necessary for this position.
  • Proficient in the use of various computer applications such as SAP, Learning Management Systems and Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database programs and be willing to learn new technological tools and to incorporate them in daily tasks.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and willing to work a fixed schedule
  • Be self-motivated and have good work ethic
  • Interpersonal skills: The ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively and productively, in a team atmosphere with colleagues having different disciplinary backgrounds
  • Demonstrate the ability to be accountable.
