California Physical Therapist Assistant Job Details

• Location: Alturas, CA 96101 (Northern California PTA jobs)
• Setting: Hospital-based Rehab/Occupational Therapy (OT)
• Employment Type: Travel healthcare contract
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1460–$1500
• Patient Load: 8–9 patients/day (1 hour evaluations, 45-minute follow-ups, no double booking)
• No weekends or on-call required

PTA Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduate of an APTA-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program
• Active, unrestricted California PTA license
• Current BCLS certification (required for healthcare jobs)
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience; acute care, skilled nursing, or outpatient experience preferred
• Strong clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Proficiency in physical therapy modalities, procedures, and EMR documentation

Physical Therapist Assistant Responsibilities

• Deliver physical therapy treatments under supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress and outcomes
• Maintain accurate, timely patient records in compliance with healthcare standards
• Promote patient safety and uphold a clean, organized clinical environment
• Utilize therapeutic exercise, soft tissue mobilization, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, and other PT modalities
• Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members
• Assist with scheduling, front office duties, and supply management as needed
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development
• Comply with all regulatory, ethical, and professional standards for California healthcare professionals
