Job Description and Duties
SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT / VENTURA SECTOR
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. The reporting location for this position is San Buenaventura State Beach – Main Day Use: 911 San Pedro St. Ventura CA 93001. This position will work under the supervision of the Supervising State Park Ranger and Peace Officer PA Lead. The Senior Park Aide (Seasonal) will provide oversight to the entrance station operations within the Ventura Sector (Primarily San Buenaventura – Main Day, San Buenaventura – Pier Lot, Emma Wood Group Camp.) The duties include but are not limited to selling accountable day use documents, printing, and preparing passes, proficient ability to use a computer and cash handling, generating reports, writing schedules, ensuring employees have adequate supplies and equipment, exceptional customer service skills, handling minor visitor service complaints, answering questions, reporting problems, general problem solving, coordinating housekeeping activities, and light maintenance work. The park aide will perform the routine duties dressed in a full California State Parks uniform and adhering to the grooming standards of the Department. The uniform will be purchased by the Park Aide and will be clean and be in good condition at the start of each workday.This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)State housing is not available. Working Conditions
Work Environment:
Work outdoors in various types of weather or work in unpleasant conditions.
Work environment may have moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. May involve some exposure to aggressive visitors. Work near fast moving traffic. May work inside an office.Physical Abilities:
Ability to perform manual labor (e.g. lifting, carrying, loading).
Requires repetitive movement of heavy objects. Stand for long periods of time (up to 2 hours) to perform the duties associated with the job.Cognitive Abilities:
Read, write and speak in a clear and concise manner.
Develop practical solutions to problems to make sound decisions. Performing basic mathematical computations associate with assigned duties. Make sound decisions given available information and situational parameters. Skill to utilize measurements (e.g., tsp, tbsp, quart) to measure, mix and apply various chemical solutions.Special Requirements
