Full Stack Engineer

Remote - US & Canada

thatgamecompany is looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to support our flagship title Sky: Children of the Light , by developing applications to facilitate game operation functions. Our internally-developed applications are a fundamental capability enabling our company to live-operate Sky: Children of Light with millions of active users generating terabytes of data per day.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will report to the Lead Full Stack Engineer, developing software for applications that support internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

• Identify issues and create solutions independently, understanding how to complete a task from start to finish

• Participate in brainstorming sessions to design and document features with scalability in mind

• Build backend API and frontend components and pages with strong knowledge of Node JS, Next JS, and SQL

• Meet with individual team members and the full ITS team weekly to discuss progress and ideas

• Interact with different departments of the company to discover and address problems and needs

• Contribute to thatgamecompany’s unique culture and vision

Key Qualifications

Professional Experience

• 3+ years of professional programming experience

• Experience building modern REST APIs in Node.js

• Experience with writing Typescript packages

• Experience using modern front-end Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, Next, Hooks)

• Experience designing data structures and querying relational and non-relational database technologies such as Postgresql, Redis, MongoDB, etc.

• Experience with Git version control system

• Experience with AWS Services (S3, Elastic Beanstalk, DynamoDB, IAM)

Problem-Solving

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to dynamic challenges

• Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams

• Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes

Bonus Points

• Experience developing with Python and Go

• Experience with Google Cloud Project, Datadog, Prometheus, Serverless, CI/CD, Gitlab, Kubernetes, Terraform

• Experience with Sky: Children of the Light and its community

• Experience in cloud project management in mobile, free-to-play, or live-service games
