Systems Integration/Infrared Testing Intern - Santa Barbara, CA

Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking summer interns for our Santa Barbara location!

The intern will be responsible for operating and testing infrared focal plane arrays and performing analysis on collected data.

Duties include:

Operation of computer frame grabbers and test electronics
Generation of test plans
Troubleshooting electronic test boards and performing electronic design
Work in a team environment to coordinate and direct test and systems related activities.

The Locale: Goleta is a city in southern Santa Barbara County, California. Goleta is part of the central coast region of California and offers lots of great scenery and is a great place to live and to raise a family. The region is known primarily for agriculture and tourism. Major crops include wine grapes, lettuce, strawberries, and artichokes. Goleta is known for being near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus, although the CDP of Isla Vista is closer. Much of Goleta is considered to be a quiet suburban community while Santa Barbara tends to attract most of the tourists and the area's residents. Goleta is about 8 miles west of the city of Santa Barbara, along the coast (the coast runs east to west in this portion of southern California). Where can you drive to from Goleta? Goleta is 2 hours northwest of Los Angeles. San Francisco is about 5 hours to the north of Goleta. Las Vegas, NV is about 5 hours to the northeast.
Basic Qualifications:
-Currently enrolled in a bachelors or graduate degree program in engineering, physics, or a related discipline at an accredited college/university.
-Experience in a scripting language such as Matlab, Python, C, etc..
-Hardware Troubleshooting.
Desired Skills:
-Experience in lab-based courses with hands-on lab experience.
-Experience in Matlab.
-Experience troubleshooting electronics boards.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $31,616 - $77,788. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidates final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
