Take on a new challenge and apply your Environmental, Health, and Safety expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and collaborative teammates.
You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational excellence of the LAX Automated People Mover (APM) system. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (operations, maintenance, and contractor personnel), conduct safety audits and risk assessments, and much more.
We’ll look to you for:

Developing, implementing, and enforcing the Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) program, including procedures, training, compliance monitoring, and field audits.
Creating, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with regulatory, contractual, and operational safety requirements.
Providing field safety oversight of operations, maintenance, and contractor activities to ensure safe execution of work.
Leading and supporting incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Conducting hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety analyses to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
Monitoring compliance with CPUC, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Coordinating with regulatory agencies, including CPUC, and supporting audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
Analyzing safety performance data, trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Providing safety training, coaching, and awareness programs to employees and contractors.
All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Transportation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience or understanding of rail transit, Automated People Mover (APM) systems, or similar regulated environments.
Familiarity with developing and implementing Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) programs.

Ability to develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or strong communication and leadership skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct risk assessments and safety analyses.
Experience with incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
Proficiency in coordinating with regulatory agencies and supporting audits or inspections.
Knowledge of emergency preparedness and response program development.
