Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your Environmental, Health, and Safety expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and collaborative teammates.
You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational excellence of the LAX Automated People Mover (APM) system. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (operations, maintenance, and contractor personnel), conduct safety audits and risk assessments, and much more.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Leading the development, implementation, and ongoing oversight of CPUC Public Transit Agency Safety Plan (P-TASP) requirements for LAX APM operations.

  • Developing, implementing, and enforcing the Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) program, including procedures, training, compliance monitoring, and field audits.

  • Creating, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with regulatory, contractual, and operational safety requirements.

  • Providing field safety oversight of operations, maintenance, and contractor activities to ensure safe execution of work.

  • Leading and supporting incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

  • Conducting hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety analyses to proactively identify and mitigate risks.

  • Monitoring compliance with CPUC, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Coordinating with regulatory agencies, including CPUC, and supporting audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.

  • Analyzing safety performance data, trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Providing safety training, coaching, and awareness programs to employees and contractors.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Transportation, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience or understanding of rail transit, Automated People Mover (APM) systems, or similar regulated environments.

  • Familiarity with developing and implementing Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) programs.

  • Knowledge of CPUC regulations, OSHA standards, and Safety Management Systems (SMS).

  • Ability to develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct risk assessments and safety analyses.

  • Experience with incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Proficiency in coordinating with regulatory agencies and supporting audits or inspections.

  • Knowledge of emergency preparedness and response program development.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

  • Work with regulatory agencies, operational teams, and contractors to ensure compliance and safety excellence

  • Progress towards becoming a trusted leader in Environmental, Health, and Safety within the rail transit and automated transportation sector

  • Utilise our dynamic and safety-focused working environment

  • Contribute to innovative projects

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
