Position Summary:

The Control System Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership, delivery, development, and implementation of control system projects. CSE is to apply engineering principles to design and specify DCS/Logic Solver PLC components and networking requirements, develop functional narratives and system specifications, and other related documents. CSE is expected to participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for control system-related issues.

Education:

BS in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is desired, but not required.

Key Attributes:

• Participates in the engineering/designing and selecting the overall control systems for small to large size projects.
• Responsible for engineering, designing, and selecting the overall control systems.
• Must demonstrate the ability to scope and detail the subject system philosophy for large sized projects.
• Implements company standards, procedures, and tools.
• Must understand and apply all client and safety policies.

Core Competencies :

• Has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
• Performs specialized technical work, which may involve the development of systems engineering, distributive and/or computer controls of processes.
• Establishes basic design and specifications for control systems and associated instrumentation.
• Implement control concepts as required.
• Keeps the Project Leads/Manager informed of scope changes and design deviations.
• Participate in overall control system design work, including installation drawings and details, loops drawings, logic diagrams, and vendor drawings.
• DCS:
  1. DCS graphics, database, and configuration (Honeywell preferred, plus others)
  2. Familiarity with P&IDs, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional Narratives
  3. Test procedure development
  4. Cutovers/loop checks
  5. Startup assistance/troubleshooting
  6. Operations/maintenance training
• PLC / HMI Programming:
  1. PLC programming (Allen Bradley CLX and PLC5 preferred, plus others)
  2. HMI programming (PanelView and RSView preferred, plus others)
  3. Familiarity with P&IDs, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional Narratives
  4. Test procedure development
  5. Cutovers/loop checks
  6. Startup assistance/troubleshooting
  7. Operations/maintenance training
• Safety System Logic Solvers
  1. Logic Solver programming (Triconex Platform preferred, plus others)
  2. Logic Validation Software programming (Schneider Safety Validator preferred, plus others)
  3. Familiarity with P&ID’s, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional Narratives
  4. Test procedure development
  5. Cutovers/loop checks
  6. Startup assistance/troubleshooting
  7. Operations/maintenance training
