Job Description and Duties

Sacramento Communications Center is a public safety answering point. Public Safety Operators (PSO) answer 9-1-1, public, allied agency, as well as making outgoing calls to service providers, allied agencies and citizens. PSOs must document information in a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System accurately, quickly and take the appropriate action on each call.

Working Conditions

Sacramento Communications Center is on a 10-hour and 12-hour hybrid alternate work week schedule with seniority signups.

• The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Typing Certificate. You will be required to provide a copy of your certificate prior to being hired.

• The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. • The CHP utilizes their own Public Safety Operator certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Public Safety Operator classification to be eligible to take the examination. The Sacramento Communications Center receives an additional $300 recruitment and retention pay differential monthly.
