Program Manager, Organizational Wellness
The USC WorkWell Cente r, part of the University of Southern California’s Office of Behavioral Health, is seeking a Program Manager, Organizational Wellness to support institution-wide initiatives that advance employee well-being, engagement, and healthy workplace culture. This position drives the development, coordination, and delivery of organizational wellness and employee assistance programming serving USC faculty and staff. The Program Manager collaborates with university leaders and campus partners to translate employee needs into responsive programs, services, and resources that promote professional effectiveness and personal well-being. The role combines program leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and organizational wellness implementation, supporting USC’s commitment to fostering a thriving and resilient workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and delivery of organizational wellness and employee assistance programming aligned with university priorities
- Partner with schools, departments, and HR stakeholders to assess workforce needs and implement targeted wellness initiatives
- Manage program operations, administrative processes, and service delivery to ensure high-quality and confidential support services
- Develop and deliver workshops, trainings, and educational programming addressing workplace well-being, stress management, and organizational effectiveness
- Coordinate outreach, communications, and promotional strategies to increase awareness and engagement with WorkWell services
- Monitor program effectiveness using utilization data, stakeholder feedback, and outcome measures; recommend improvements and new service offerings
- Support organizational wellness initiatives including workplace climate efforts, employee engagement activities, and cross-campus collaboration projects
- Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for leadership to support strategic decision-making
- Supervise staff and/or student workers as assigned
- Maintain alignment with university policies, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Organizational Development, Public Health, or related field
- Five (5) years of relevant professional experience, including experience in employee assistance, wellness programming, human resources, or organizational support services
- Demonstrated experience managing programs or operational initiatives within complex organizations
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining discretion with confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, or large institutional environments
- Background in employee assistance programs (EAP), organizational wellness, or workplace engagement initiatives
- Experience supporting organizational assessments, program evaluation, or change initiatives
- California licensed mental health professional (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) or related credential preferred
- Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP), ICF coaching credential, or similar certification
Work Environment & Expectations
This position serves as a key resource supporting employee well-being across USC and may participate in emergency response and recovery efforts consistent with university policy. The role qualifies as a mandated reporter and Campus Security Authority as required by law.

The salary range for this position is $115,000-$130,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Master's degree In Psychology Or Social Work Or Counseling Or in related field(s) Minimum Certifications: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - LMFT (CA DCA) LPCC and/or LCSW certifications from an accredited program. Post-master’s certification in a clinical setting. Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) certification or equivalent EAP experience. Minimum Experience: 5 years in human resources, with some in Employee Assistance Programs. Minimum Skills: Demonstrated experience managing program operations and administrative functions. Experience developing employee assistance resource content and materials. Ability to provide consistent, confidential support and resource referrals to faculty/staff. Proven knowledge of psychology principles applied to human resources administration, employee engagement and program development. Experience with employee crisis intervention, management and incident response and reporting. Advanced knowledge of industrial-social work, organizational psychology or counseling theories and techniques. Proven interpersonal skills, able to establish strong, positive working relationships and rapport with varied groups of team members. Experience with assessment and evaluation of mandated employee referrals. Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize between immediate needs and long-term objectives. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions with minimal supervision and discretion with confidential information. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Excellent analytical skills, able to think strategically and creatively.
