Job Description and Duties

WATER AND SEWAGE PLANT SUPERVISOR – SIERRA DISTRICT / SUGAR PINE POINT STATE PARK

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment , and traning and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position is the Sierra District Headquarters Maintenance Shop located at Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma, CA. This position will work under general direction of the Sierra District Maintenance Chief I.

This position is responsible for the operation of the water treatment and sewage treatment plants in the Sierra District. This includes conducting and interpreting water and sewage tests, adjusting treatment processes, maintaining and repairing, pumps, chlorinators, engines, and overseeing the operation of related systems such as incinerators and swimming pools. May serve as a relief operator and perform minor plumbing. This position requires working outdoors during very cold inclement weather including subfreezing temperatures, altitudes up to 8,375 feet, uneven ground, and temperatures in excess of 100 degrees.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The incumbent’s work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Occasional travel may be required.

This position requires a T-2 (or higher) water treatment license.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

This position will be subject to the Federal Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.

Working Conditions

• Frequent travel throughout District.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather and high altitudes to 8400 feet, be available for call outs, and work holidays as needed.
• As WSPS for the Sierra District, one must have a good understanding of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems used in water and sewage treatment.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) T-2 (or above) Water Treatment License License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) , this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR .
