About this Role:

Under direction of the Deputy Director (DD), the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) serves as the independent, personal, and confidential Administrative Analyst to the Deputy Director (DD) and two Assistant Deputy Directors (ADDs) for Behavioral Health (BH).

This position performs a wide range of analytical and administrative duties involving sensitive and complex departmental issues. The AGPA coordinates executive-level communications, manages office operations, provides guidance to support staff, and ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

The incumbent must demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Supplemental Application Requirement Section

Applicants must include a Supplemental Application (SA) for this recruitment. The SA serves as documentation of the applicant’s ability to present information clearly and provide DHCS additional information about their experience and qualifications concisely in writing. The DHCS may not consider applicants who fail to provide an SA with their application. Resumes do not take the place of the SA.

The SA must be no more than two pages in length, double- spaced and using 12-point Arial font. You must indicate your Full Name and Job Control Number at the top right corner.

Respond directly to the following Supplemental Application question(s):

1) Describe your experience working collaboratively with supervisors and managers to achieve a goal set by executive management. Provide an example of how you contributed to solving a challenge encountered by the group.

2) Describe your specific experience in handling a heavy workload with competing priorities, and the steps you take to ensure deadlines are met.

Telework and Salary Information

This position is currently eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in person a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 agreement

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the temporary Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee receive a temporary reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2025 leave credits. The temporary salary reduction percentage and the number of PLP2025 leave credits are based on the position’s associated bargaining unit.
