Do you have Linux administration skills or are you interested in honing or acquiring them? We're looking for someone who has training or some experience in Unix, Linux or OCP administration and is interested in learning and growing in a positive and supportive work environment. Working with your new team, you'll have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of innovative problem-solving activities in learning capacity to provide server deployments and engineering support to the organization. Your work directly impacts the success of the Franchise Tax Board's (FTB) mission and helps Californians meet their tax obligations, which in turn funds the majority of programs that support all Californians.


In your role

You will work under the close supervision of the IT Manager I, and in a learning capacity, provide support for Unix/Linux/OCP server administration, network systems and server hardware and software support activities, as well as being a participant assisting with technology projects. Additionally, in a learning capacity, you will assist in providing support for research and evaluation of new technologies for use within the operational programs; participate on technical teams, administration work automation as directed by management; learn to develop reports related to performance and workload statistics. As a student, learn and perform the duties within the framework of the department’s mission and values. This position assists, in a learning capacity, to provide services which encompass the IT domain of System Engineering.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires 4 or more days in the office per week. It is designated office-centered and may be eligible for some remote work based on departmental guidelines and operational need.
