Adjunct Faculty - University Supervisor

Role: The University Supervisor provides the collaborative link between the school site and university, and monitors the ongoing progress of a student teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

To perform this committee role successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily.

The University Supervisor must:

• Serve as the liaison between the student teacher, cooperating teacher, and the University.
• Be available to the student teacher.
• Conduct an introductory meeting with and consult regularly with the cooperating teacher.
• Provide encouragement and technical support to both the student teacher and cooperating teacher.
• Troubleshoot and problem solve challenging assignments in accordance with adopted University protocols.
• Be an advocate for the University.
• Proactively communicate with the Director of Student Teaching.
• Monitor student teacher progress and compliance with program standards, policies, and procedures.
• Regularly review the student teacher's logbook.
• Communicate with the student teacher and cooperating teacher on progress or lack of progress.
• Provide ongoing formative feedback to the student teacher.
• Conduct at least 3 formal lesson observations for each assignment for Multiple Subject and EDSP credential candidates for a total of at least 6 observations.
• Conduct at least 6 formal observations for Single Subject credential candidates.
• Complete a post-lesson conference with the student teacher.
• Conduct additional observations when the student teacher performs below standard.
• Distribute observations evenly over the period of an assignment.
• Fill out lesson observation evaluation forms.
• Fill out midterm and final evaluation forms.
• Conduct the Final Student Teaching Conference and Review.
• Attend University Supervisor training seminars as assigned by the Director of Student Teaching.
• Attend student teacher orientation meetings as assigned by the Director of Student Teaching.

Education and/or Experience

• A Masters Degree in Education
• A California teaching credential or out of state teaching credential.
