Community Resource & Workforce Development Coordinator

DEFINITION
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a community-based environment, enjoys connecting people with resources, and is passionate about workforce development. This position will report to the Community Development Manager and have a dotted line to the Workforce Development Manager. The role is currently part-time but has potential to grow into a full-time position as services expand.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Resident & Community Resource Navigation- Conduct intake and assessments to understand resident needs in areas such as food, housing, healthcare, and benefits.
- Provide direct referrals and follow-up support to ensure access to MAAC programs and other community services.
- Assist residents with public benefit applications, emergency support services, and basic needs assistance.
- Coordinate monthly food distributions and related events, including volunteer recruitment and logistics.
- Maintain accurate client files and data in accordance with program requirements.
- Organize and host on-site activities such as health fairs, partner workshops, or community-building events.
- Conduct regular outreach within the property and nearby areas to engage residents in services and opportunities.
- Support job seekers with job readiness, application assistance, interview prep, and connection to workforce opportunities.
- Maintain knowledge of local job markets, employers, and training programs, especially in agriculture, trades, and entry-level sectors.
- Help coordinate on-site or virtual job fairs, resume-building workshops, and workforce trainings.
- Track employment outcomes and training progress, reporting data as needed to the Workforce Development Manager.
- Assist in identifying and removing barriers to employment, including referral to wraparound supports.
- Collaborate with the Community Development and Workforce Development teams to align program goals and deliverables.
- Maintain open communication and coordination with onsite property management to support community priorities.
- Participate in team meetings, report-outs, and planning sessions.
- Ensure compliance with data tracking, case documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Represent MAAC’s mission and values in all community and partner-facing activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Social services, workforce development programs, and case management strategies.
- Local needs of low-income, migrant, and farmworker populations.
- Community-based resource navigation and public benefit systems.
- Cultural competency and trauma-informed approaches.
- Work effectively with individuals and families of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Build strong relationships with residents, employers, and community partners.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately in English; Spanish proficiency preferred.
- Work independently and manage multiple priorities with flexibility.
- Coordinate events and facilitate small group workshops.
- Use technology tools (CRM systems like Salesforce, Google Workspace, or Microsoft Office) to document and report services.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (for food distribution and event setup).
- Occasionally work evenings or weekends based on community need.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in social services, workforce development, or community-based programs.
- Bilingual/biliterate (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Valid California driver’s license

HEALTH STATUS
Must have a physical examination, TB clearance and a drug screen by a doctor/clinic designated by MAAC as well as immunization records for influenza*, pertussis and measles as required by state and federal regulations prior to the first day of employment.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this class, an employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit, talk or hear both in person and by telephone, uses hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms. An employee also is regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, climb or balance and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Mental Demands
While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret information; analyze and solve problems; observe and interpret people and situations; use basic math; learn and apply new information or skills; work under intensive deadlines and interact with MAAC management, administrators, staff, teachers, parents, family members, children and others encountered in the course of work.
BACKGROUND CLEARANCE
All positions are subject to a background/education check, DMV check, NSOR, exclusion and debarment checks prior to hire and periodically throughout employment as required by various funding sources.
Note: California Start law requires background criminal checks on anyone who works in a licensed childcare facility who is not a client. Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance, signed criminal record statement, and signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form prior to the first day of employment.
TRANSPORTATION
Must have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, daily use of a personal, insured vehicle, and have and maintain a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to MAAC’s insurance carrier. Incumbents will be enrolled in the California DMV Pull Program.
