SOFTWARE QA ENGINEER


Location: San Mateo

Full-Time role: Hybrid

Contractor role: 12 month term

The Software Production (SWP) team has an important mission to ensure the best quality of Software Development Kit (SDK) for all PlayStation game and content developers. Our engineers are committed to provide the best automated software tools and tests to enhance PlayStation SDK quality. We work to provide game developers with the best and powerful software tools for more PlayStation games creation to grow the PlayStation community continuously. We also pleasantly provide a creative and collaborative environment with cutting edge technology for engineer growth.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test you will learn and utilize PlayStation technologies to work on developer tools, automated tests, test frameworks and infrastructure used to verify and validate the video codecs used at PlayStation®.

You will partner with engineers to understand software in development and own the design and implementation of test cases and frameworks to expand testing coverage and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities




  • Design and implement software for testing the performance and correctness of PlayStation® video encoding and decoding.



  • Collect, visualize and report on performance data and operational statistics to improve the efficiency of our tools and processes.



  • Research innovative solutions to technical challenges in Quality Assurance and applicable compiler technologies for PlayStation.


Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field.



  • Proficient in C++ and Python programming.



  • Experience writing software in both Windows and Linux systems.



  • Highly motivated with outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with others at all levels.


Bonus Qualifications




  • Experience with video codecs algorithms H265, AV1, VP9 etc.



  • Experience with programmatic ways to asses video quality VMAF, SSIM, PSNR etc.



  • Data analysis and relational database experience.



  • Experience developing automation using Jenkins.



  • Knowledge of collaborative software engineering best practice including usage of Source Control Management systems, Continuous Integration/Deployment frameworks.



  • AGILE/Scrum training.
