Job Description and Duties

The Information Technology (IT) Specialist I serves as a primary Information Technology client services team member performing hardware, software, network support, asset tracking, and procedure development and maintenance. The IT Specialist I performs a variety of tasks in connection with the support, analysis, development, installation, and implementation of personal computing devices, printers, audio/visual and telecommunications equipment.

Must have Information Technology Specialist I list eligibility, transfer, or reinstatement eligibility and be reachable on the certification list to be eligible for this position.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience in Client Services, including providing first and second level technical support to end-users for personal computers, mobile phones, network access, hardware, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Experience in Software and Patch Management Support, including the preparation of packets for installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of applications.
  • Experience performing Cybersecurity Support and Information Security activities, including the identification of threats and vulnerabilities, implementation of security controls and countermeasures, and incident response and management.
  • Experience in the research, procurement, asset tracking and management of cost-effective applications and hardware to meet business needs, following an organization’s acquisition policies and procedures.
  • Experience in Audio/Visual Support, including setting up microphone/camera/streaming technology using a variety of equipment for offsite hybrid meetings, as well as on the spot troubleshooting any related video conference related issues.
  • Experience in programming, including languages, tools, or frameworks.
  • Experience developing or maintaining applications or systems you have developed or maintained.
