Senior Accountant
Description
SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant assists the CFO with monitoring the operations and quality control over SCCS accounting data, financial reporting, and adherence to the published budgets for each program/department. It is a critical component of this position to ensure that actual expenditures are aligned with budgets for each program/department on a monthly actual and annual forecasting basis. The Senior Accountant will directly manage the reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts, accounts receivables recording and management, fixed asset recording and depreciation, accrual and payment of payroll, benefits, and other liabilities, 1099 and other tax reporting, and timely generation of monthly financials. The Senior Accountant will assist with invoice generation, cash management, payables, payroll, audits, and other accounting tasks as required.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
2. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
3. Experience working with ERP systems required, Oracle NetSuite experience a plus.
4. Experience with not-for-profit and grant accounting a plus.
5. Experience with Medi-Cal reporting and billing as it applies to government and insurance contracts preferred; knowledge of the revenue cycle management (RCM) process a plus.
6. Experience with administration and compliance matters for government contracts.
7. Experience supporting fiscal and government compliance audits and reviews.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
- CPA license or CPA Candidate preferred.
- Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
Requirements
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts every month
- Monitor adherence to organization’s policies, procedures and systems of internal control.
- Monitor completion of all contract-required financial reports within the required timeframe including variance analysis of actual expenditures to published budgets by program.
- Monitor and update forecasts for each contract and reporting unit on a regular basis.
- Monitor that accounts payable are processed in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Monitor that billings and accounts receivable are processed in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Monitor that cash flow needs are addressed daily.
- Monitor that audit and contract requirements are met as needed, including all County contracts and reporting requirements.
- Work with program Directors and the Billing Department to ensure that information necessary for proper preparation of monthly reports is received timely and accurately.
- Ensure that 1099s, property tax, and other non-payroll tax returns are submitted timely and accurately.
- Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
- Attend contract meetings with the County and other meetings as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to drive a motor vehicle without restrictions, often in heavy traffic and frequently long distances (one hour or more).
• Senses of vision, hearing and smell sufficient to regularly operate a motor vehicle, to visualize threats in the environment and operate safely.
• Required to occasionally lift and carry 10-20 pounds.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.
• Regularly required to sit and use computer in office settings.
