State Compensation Insurance Fund’s (“State Fund’s”) Los Angeles Legal Hub is seeking a motivated Attorney to join our exceptional legal team. At State Fund, we represent the insured employers and various State Agencies of California, handling challenging workers' compensation-related issues. As an Attorney with us, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact by handling, defending, litigating, and resolving workers’ compensation cases. You’ll be at the forefront of depositions, administrative hearings, and court appearances - ensuring justice is served to our clients.

Location:

This position involves appearances before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, including the Van Nuys or Marina del Rey District office. Please apply only to this position if Los Angeles or surrounding areas is your preferred location.

This role includes both in-person and virtual appearances, and travel within the state may be required. Reimbursement for local travel will be provided within the allowable mile radius.

Your Role:

As a vital member of our team, you'll take on a diverse and fulfilling role with opportunities to improve your litigation skills over time. Your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with internal and external clients
• Drafting pleadings, correspondences, and other legal documents
• Conducting discovery and supporting case development
• Participate in settlement discussions and negotiations
• Making confident court appearances, including trials

Working Conditions

To be considered, you must provide a fully completed STD 678 applic ation, resume, and statement of qualifications via CalCa reers. Resumes submitted in lieu of the STD 678 may not be accepted. Completed STD 678 must include duties performed, start and end dates, and hours worked per week for each position held.

Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.

Candidates must reside in California to be eligible for this appointment.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
