Job Summary
The Senior Contract Manager is responsible for overseeing contract administration, claim management, and commercial risk management throughout the lifecycle of complex engineering and construction projects. Reporting to the Owner Project Director, this role plays a critical part in ensuring contractual compliance, protecting project profitability, and minimizing commercial risk exposure.
Job Description
- Participate in the Front-End phase of projects by providing guidance on contract operability and risk considerations during negotiations
- Develop and manage the Contract Management Plan (CMP) to ensure contractual awareness across project teams
- Plan and implement contract and claim management strategies throughout project execution
- Monitor and manage commercial risks and opportunities, especially related to project deviations, cost impacts, and schedule changes
- Educate and mentor project team members regarding contractual obligations, notices, and compliance requirements
- Establish and maintain claim management logs, tracking tools, and supporting documentation
- Facilitate communication and coordination between cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Support the Project Manager in managing contractual communications, negotiations, and client relationships
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, subcontracting, and project controls teams to minimize liability exposure and protect project profitability
- Support development and substantiation of claims related to cost and schedule impacts involving clients, subcontractors, and vendors
- Assist Legal and Procurement teams with client and vendor claims management
- Provide support for reimbursable contract administration, including invoicing of labor hours and project expenses in accordance with contract requirements
- Support audits and internal quality assurance processes
Skills Required
- Minimum 5–10 years of related contract management experience
- Experience supporting engineering, construction, industrial, or plant-related projects preferred
- Strong understanding of contract forms, contract management principles, and claim management procedures
- Experience with contract management tools and commercial risk management processes
- Basic technical understanding of plant engineering and project execution
- Knowledge of scheduling, project progress tracking, and critical path concepts
- Experience reviewing and challenging cost estimates and supporting claims analysis
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively across multiple disciplines, organizations, and contract types, including government-related contracts
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment

Education
- Highschool diploma or GED
Pay Rate
- $52.50 - $62.50 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
Additional Requirements
- Combination of office and project site environment
- Required PPE may include hard hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and high-visibility vest in accordance with site safety requirements
- Minimal lifting requirements (up to 10 lbs.)
- No driving or work-at-height requirements associated with this role
