Accounts Payable Clerk

Purpose

To perform daily processing of accounts payable transactions, ensuring that invoices are processed and paid in an accurate and timely manner.

Principal Responsibilities

• Match invoices to purchase receipts.
• Enter data from invoices to our accounting software.
• Communicate with vendors and/or internal departments to resolve issues with invoices due to shortages and/or pricing.
• Process payments, including wire transfers and checks, per defined schedule.
• Maintain vendor relationships.

Nature and Scope

The nature of this role is to be effective in meeting established time limits. This individual should have an eye for detail and also have an analytical mind set to solve invoice discrepancies.

A majority of time will be spent providing accurate and timely data used for financial decisions. This requires sitting at a computer most of the day.

This individual will also communicate effectively with peers and vendors any issues or delays regarding assigned accounts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years experience in accounts payable or similar accounting experience.
• Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
• Computer skills, including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet, word-processing and email programs at a highly proficient level.
• Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
• Organization and time management skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Willingness to continue training and development to self-enhance personal performance.
