Sous Chef

Little Mountain is in search of a stellar Sous Chef who will work alongside Chef Joel to help write our culinary story from day one. We're looking for a natural leader who believes in the power of food to create unforgettable experiences and brings both technical excellence and creative passion to everything they do. Our ideal candidate loves great food as much as great systems, is a natural mentor, and would be excited about building something extraordinary from the ground up. • Talent for kitchen leadership and genuine passion for helping your team grow and succeed
• That special magic that comes from years of cooking in successful, thoughtful restaurants
• A knack for mentoring cooks - you can spot talent, nurture it, and create an environment where people are excited to learn and grow
• Strong understanding of food costs and kitchen operations
• The ability to stay cool as a cucumber during the rush while maintaining excellence
• A true passion for exceptional food that becomes contagious among your team
• Mastery of classical techniques and modern cooking methods
• Experience with food safety, kitchen regulations, and proper handling procedures
• Excellent communication skills across all levels (kitchen staff, FOH, ownership, vendors)
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Physical stamina to work long hours in a demanding kitchen environment
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage kitchen dynamics

The nice to haves:

• Time spent in the trenches of Michelin-starred kitchens or other high-performing environments where excellence is a way of life
• Previous experience with restaurant openings or menu development
• Understanding of wine and beverage pairings to collaborate with our beverage team
• Experience with special events and private dining execution
• A genuine passion for sustainability and close relationships with local farmers and producers
• Experience with whole animal butchery and preservation techniques
• Knowledge of seasonal ingredients and local producers
