Senior Data Scientist - Social

The Data Science & Analytics organization's mission is to increase our speed, frequency, and acumen of our business decisions and to empower and scale product innovations. We cover a wide area of the data spectrum, including analytical data engineering, product analytics, experimentation, causal inference, statistical modeling, and machine learning. Aligned and partnering with product groups, we use this vast tool belt to discover new opportunities and unmet use cases, influence and shape the product roadmap and prioritization, build data products and measure the impact on our community of players and developers.

WHY SOCIAL?

Roblox is a highly social platform with billions of user connections we are actively building a variety of social products to nurture an engaging experience. This role will work closely with our Communities team to create world class community products that connect and deepen social interactions across our network of developers, brands, influencers, and users. You will leverage your technical and analytics chops to design experiments and product strategies to grow Roblox Communities, while contributing to connections, communications, social sharing, etc. This role will report directly into Senior Data Science leadership, and collaborate closely with our Director of Product and Senior Engineering / Design leadership.

You Will:

• Inform, develop and execute on product strategies in service of Roblox Communities growth.


• Create and own data foundations, metrics, analytics and reporting tools. Design experiment and quasi-experimental measurement plans to evaluate Community products.


• Partner closely with product and engineering teams to identify new product opportunities.


• Communicate insights and discuss recommendations with cross function partners translating complex technical concepts into actionable insights.


• Collaborate and synergize with the rest of the social product team.

You Have:

• An Advanced or equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, or related discipline.


• 4+ years of industry or equivalent experience in Data Science and Analytics


• 4+ years of experience using big data query/processing languages such as SQL, Hive, or Spark to transform/manipulate extensive datasets


• 2+ years of experience in designing experiments, ideally with exposure to causal inference methodologies.


• 2+ years of experience in one or more scripting languages such as Python or R


• Experience using data results and data storytelling to influence product teams and leaders
