Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Applied AI

Your Role

This is a product engineering role that will heavily focus on Applied AI in the Payments: Accounts Payable (AP) Automation domain. We view AI as a key strategic investment to realize our mission of helping enterprises procure faster, smarter, and safer.

You Will

As a Sr/Staff SWE you will shape AI strategy and infrastructure for the Payments org and contribute to AI strategy and direction for the company. You’ll develop a deep understanding of the day-to-day workflows for Payments customers inside the Zip product. You’ll work closely with other engineers and cross-functional partners (e.g. PMs, designers, and sales team) to identify opportunities for quantifiable business impact, drive engineering decisions, and build and launch applied AI products.

Please note that we are looking for someone who will be able to come into our downtown San Francisco office on a hybrid basis (3 days/week).

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience working as a full stack / product engineer

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS or related fields

• Proficiency in software development languages (Python/Java/C++ or equivalent)

• Experience working at an AI startup or on an Applied AI team at a larger company

• Familiarity with Search Recommendations, LLM and GenAI concepts and use cases

• Strong product / business sense and can drive product decisions

• Great cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Gen AI / Applied AI experience

• Solid SWE experience building products for customers

• Payments or B2B experience is a plus

The salary range for the Senior/Staff role is $190,000 - $250,000. The salary for this position is determined based on a variety of job-related factors that may include leveling, relevant experience, education, or particular skills and expertise.
