Environmental Laboratory Analyst

Alpha Labs, Inc is looking to hire an experienced Laboratory Analyst at our environmental laboratory in Carson, CA. Our laboratory network specializes in compliance testing to the California marketplace under the regulatory guidelines of both the California Waterboard and Federal EPA. We've been in business since 1976 and have developed into one of the premier environmental laboratories statewide.

We're seeking an analyst to process various test methods required for our water and soil clientele base. Test methods include microbiology and wet chemistry.

Our weekday shifts run from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Weekend shifts are more flexible and dependent on testing needs. They occasionally include sample pick-ups using a company vehicle. Overtime may be required. Occasional holidays required.

The candidate will work Monday- Friday throughout the training period (30 - 60 days). At this point and when they can work independently on required analyses, their work schedule may then incorporate weekend days (Sat or Sun or both).

General Job Responsibilities:

• Perform routine analyses on water and soil samples in accordance with standard operating procedures and client requirements
• Calibrate, operate and maintain laboratory equipment
• Prepare media, standards, and reagents
• Maintain daily log books and quality control documentation
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies
• Monitor and wash glassware as needed
• Other duties as needed

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Sciences or other related field
• Prior experience working in laboratory environment
• Experience with Microsoft programs and LIMS
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and collaborate with team members
• Highly organized with great attention to detail
• Must be flexible to meet demands of workload and work effectively while under pressure

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
• Must be willing to work with chemicals and wastewater in analytical procedures
• Must be able to safely operate company vehicle

Salary: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour DOE
