Electrical Engineer - Manager

Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer Manager leads an engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining electrical switchgear systems for power distribution. Key responsibilities include managing staff, overseeing project milestones, ensuring technical excellence, maintaining compliance with industry standards (like NEC, NFPA, IEC), and collaborating with sales, production, and other stakeholders to meet company goals. This role requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, extensive experience in switchgear design and power systems, strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
This position interacts with electrical distributors, customers, consultant engineers on job specific details such as submittals and witness tests, as well as design schematics, wiring diagrams, and point-to-point drawings to meet application requirements. This role is responsible for providing coordination for technical guidance to production personnel as appropriate; support product marketing and provide negotiation and application support for sales.

General Accountabilities
  • Maintain current knowledge/expertise of product engineering technologies, competitor capabilities, practices, market conditions, and channels.
  • Manage and mentor a team of electrical and mechanical engineers, CAD designers, and technicians to develop skills and ensure high-quality work.Â
  • Work with inside and outside sales, production teams, and other departments to provide technical solutions and support.
  • Develop and maintain processes and procedures for the engineering team to enhance efficiency and technical capabilities.Â
  • Generate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, point-to-point drawings.
  • Select Applicable Components to meet product application and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical codes, industry standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC), and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as primary contact for customers as technical liaison in all aspects of product application, performance, and compliance to specifications and solutions to complex customer problems.
  • Review and analyze product configurations and components, design circuits, perform engineering calculations, and provide input to other departments including drafting, purchasing, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Participate in product design, product revisions, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and safety improvements.
  • Participate in customer project review/drawing approval meetings.
  • Participate and lead in customer inspections and witness tests.
  • Manage changes to order requirements and assist with product warranty.
  • Support and comply with environment, health, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform other related activities and special projects as assigned.
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.Â
  • Experience: 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in leadership or management roles, including managing engineering staff and projects.
  • Familiarity with medium-voltage and low-voltage systems, transformers, circuit breakers, and protection systems is essential.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Electrical diagram creation.

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and methodologies.
  • Working and current knowledge of codes and industry standards.

  • Ability to understand and design all aspects of electrical components, equipment, and machinery.
