The firm supports clients through complex financial challenges, including Chapter 11 reorganization, bankruptcy litigation, debtor/creditor disputes, and related commercial litigation. This is an opportunity for a bankruptcy litigation attorney who wants meaningful case work, direct partner exposure, and long-term growth within a sophisticated restructuring and litigation practice.

About the Role

The Chapter 11 Litigation Attorney will support a sophisticated bankruptcy and restructuring practice with an emphasis on Chapter 11 matters, contested bankruptcy proceedings, adversary proceedings, motion practice, discovery, negotiations, hearings, and case strategy.

This role is ideal for an attorney with direct business bankruptcy, restructuring, debtor/creditor, or bankruptcy litigation experience who can manage detailed filings, deadlines, research, and client communications in a fast-moving legal environment.

Responsibilities

Chapter 11 & Bankruptcy Litigation

• Support Chapter 11 business bankruptcy matters, restructurings, contested matters, and adversary proceedings.

• Draft and revise pleadings, motions, oppositions, replies, declarations, discovery, settlement materials, and related bankruptcy court filings.

• Handle legal research and analysis involving the Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, local bankruptcy rules, and relevant state law issues.

• Assist with matters involving automatic stay issues, cash collateral, claims objections, plan confirmation, disclosure statements, preference claims, fraudulent transfer issues, and debtor/creditor disputes.

Case Strategy & Client Management

• Work closely with partners and senior attorneys to evaluate case strategy, procedural posture, litigation risk, and client objectives.

• Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, meetings, depositions, mediations, and other case-related proceedings.

• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, trustees, creditors, court personnel, experts, and vendors.

• Maintain organized case files, research notes, deadline tracking, and matter updates in a fast-moving bankruptcy litigation environment.

Discovery, Hearings & Court Practice

• Manage written discovery, document review, evidence organization, deposition preparation, and hearing preparation.

• Prepare for and attend court hearings, status conferences, mediations, settlement discussions, and trial-related proceedings as appropriate.

• Track court deadlines, filing requirements, procedural rules, and local practice expectations for bankruptcy court matters.

• Support efficient case movement from intake and initial strategy through resolution, confirmation, settlement, or trial-related preparation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

• Active California bar admission, or ability to become admitted promptly if otherwise strongly aligned.

• Direct experience with Chapter 11, business bankruptcy, bankruptcy litigation, restructuring, or debtor/creditor matters.

• Strong legal research, analytical reasoning, persuasive writing, and motion drafting skills.

• Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, CM/ECF, PACER, and court filing requirements.

• Ability to manage deadlines, competing priorities, and detailed case materials with a high degree of accuracy.

• Professional communication skills and sound judgment when working with clients, attorneys, opposing counsel, and court personnel.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience practicing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.

• Business litigation, commercial litigation, creditor rights, or insolvency litigation background.

• Experience with plan confirmation, disclosure statements, first-day motions, cash collateral, stay relief, claims objections, or adversary proceedings.

• Judicial clerkship, law review, moot court, or other writing-intensive credentials.

Pay range and compensation package

Expected base salary range is approximately $150,000, with potential to reach $200,000 or higher depending on Chapter 11 bankruptcy litigation experience, California bar status, writing ability, and overall fit for the firm's restructuring and litigation practice.
