Are you a dedicated, compassionate clinical professional who loves helping older adults regain their functional independence, safety, and confidence? We are seeking two highly organized Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) for full-time contract positions in Stockton.
Working under the direct guidance of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in delivering restorative and rehabilitative occupational therapy services to senior participants at our day health center and within their homes. This position perfectly balances hands-on clinical therapy—such as muscle re-education, cognitive function activities, and daily living (ADL) training—with essential administrative and gym management support. Duties & ResponsibilitiesTherapeutic Care & ADL RehabilitationImplement Plan of Care: Administer individualized occupational therapy treatment programs and interventions exactly as established by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
Functional Interventions: Deliver and document treatments focused on muscle re-education, perceptual-motor skills, balance, endurance, and cognitive function to maximize participant independence in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
Clinical Screening Assistance: Assist the Occupational Therapist in gathering vital signs, conducting range of motion tests, and measuring baseline strength.
Patient & Caregiver Education: Provide clear training and instruction to staff, participants, and family caregivers in the safe use and proper care of therapeutic equipment and adaptive devices.
Clinical Touchpoints: Monitor participants for functional or medical status changes, updating the OT and interdisciplinary team (IDT) promptly. Assist with supervised end-of-life care coordination when required.
Administrative Operations: Manage patient treatment scheduling, arrange recurring appointments for the primary Physical and Occupational Therapists, and handle clinical billing records.
Gym & Equipment Upkeep: Clean, organize, and maintain the rehabilitation gym equipment, and track routine equipment maintenance logs.
Mobile & Telehealth Delivery: Complete field-based mobile visits to participant homes for direct treatments, durable medical equipment (DME) setup, and at-home training, supplemented by clinical telehealth sessions.
Other duties as assigned.
Education: Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program (qualifying degrees earned outside of the US must be evaluated to the US equivalent).
Licensure: Valid, unrestricted California Occupational Therapy Assistant License.
Work Authorization: Legally authorized to practice and work in the State of California.
Clinical Focus: Minimum of two (2) years of Occupational Therapy Assistant experience in a clinical setting working directly with a frail or elderly population.
Geriatric Knowledge: Strong professional understanding of complex medical and physical needs unique to vulnerable or elderly seniors.
Mobility: Must possess reliable personal transportation to complete required field-based mobile therapy visits and home safety setups.
Interpersonal Strengths: Highly motivated, self-directed, and capable of making sound decisions in fast-paced or quickly changing environments.
Cultural Competency: Excellent communication and organization skills with a proven track record of working effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Work Type: Full-Time Contract Position (40 hours per week)
Work Setting: Hybrid on-site and field-based setting out of the center in Stockton, CA. The routine schedule requires 3 days on-site at the day health center and 2 days completed off-site (field-based mobile home visits and telehealth), with occasional flexibility required to work additional on-site days based on center volume.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay: $45-48/HR depending on years of experience.
