Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Principal AI Engagement Architect to join the Business AI Adoption Practice within the Customer Services and Delivery organization. As an AI Engagement Architect, you will work closely with Market Units, solution experts, enterprise architects, and delivery teams within the region and to increase AI Adoption - Joule, Embedded AI and custom AI solutions based on BTP, helping customers and internal teams accelerate their intelligent enterprise journey.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in SAP Business AI and SAP BTP with strong customer engagement skills. This role is the technical backbone of our AI adoption motion and is ideal for someone passionate about AI, automation, and innovation enablement,

Key Responsibilities

AI Architecture Leadership

• Provide architectural leadership on embedded AI capabilities across SAP Business Suite applications
• Lead Joule architecture, enablement, and activation across Lines of Business, aligned with Unified Joule Strategy
• Design and deploy Joule Agents and Assistants, including hands-on development of custom agents using Joule Studio
• Build proof of concepts, demos, and reference architectures showcasing applied AI, intelligent automation, and agent-driven scenarios
• Evaluate and apply Generative AI and LLM-based approaches for process automation and application development

AI Adoption & Customer Engagement

• Engage with account teams and customers to identify, shape, and pilot high-value AI and automation use cases
• Translate complex business challenges into scalable technical architectures using SAP Business AI, SAP BTP, Python, and ABAP
• Lead architecture, governance, and security discussions with customers to remove adoption barriers and accelerate AI consumption
• Clearly articulate the value of AI and automation, accelerate adoption roadmaps, and guide customers from experimentation to scale
• Proactively identify and resolve adoption blockers

Internal Enablement & Thought Leadership

• Create enablement assets, technical guides, and best practice frameworks for CS&D, BTP, and regional teams
• Lead or contribute to AI workshops, hackathons, and deep-dive sessions
• Capture and document patterns, lessons learned, and reusable assets to accelerate AI adoption across engagements
• Feed adoption insights, customer and field feedback back to Product Management to inform roadmap decisions
• Stay current on SAP Business AI portfolio, SAP BTP advancements, and emerging agentic AI capabilities

Technical Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary technical voice for Business AI and automation, influencing stakeholders from MU and delivery teams
• Partner with regional delivery and customer engagement teams to drive consistent, aligned engagement across AI opportunities
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to ensure AI technical recommendations align with broader architectural direction

Qualifications

• 12+ years of expertise in SAP technical or customer facing roles
• Hands-on experience with SAP AI Core, AI Launchpad, Generative AI Hub, SAP Build, and Joule Studio
• Proven experience as an SAP Architect with deep expertise in SAP Business AI, Joule and agent-based architecture, and SAP BTP
• Proficiency in SAP BTP services including SAP Generative AI Hub, SAP AI Core, SAP AI Business Services
• Familiarity with SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Data Intelligence, SAP Analytics Cloud, Vector Engines, Knowledge Graphs.
• Solid technical foundation in Python, JavaScript, CAP, and enterprise SAP landscapes
• Strong business process acumen across at least one functional domain - Finance, Supply Chain, or HR
• Ability to decouple complex business requirements into scalable, secure AI architectures
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills - able to influence both technical and non-technical audiences
• An AI-Powered Mindset with the ability to connect technology to real business outcomes
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field

Preferred Skills

• SAP certification in SAP BTP or relevant AI modules
• Exposure to ABAP-based AI integrations and hybrid SAP landscapes
• Experience working with APIs, AI SDKs, LLM frameworks, and cloud AI services
• Prior experience in customer facing roles - consulting, pre-sales, or customer success
• Experience delivering hands-on demos and proof of concept builds to executive audiences

Compensation Range Transparency : SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted annual combined range for this position is 167,300 - 371,400 (USD). The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
