Billing Supervisor for Domestic Transportation Location Hybrid remote in Burlingame, CA : Description:

The Billing Supervisor leads the billing team for a freight forwarder and acts as the initial escalation point for any discrepancies. This role requires auditing costs from carriers and agents that are entered in the billing section of shipments within the Watchpoint Transportation Management System (TMS). This role is responsible for training the overall team and interpreting and auditing the accuracy of Watchpoint's billing data within the TMS. This position will work closely with the billing team and accounting team.

** This is a hybrid position, must be able to reliably commute to our Burlingame, CA office twice per week**

The starting pay for this position is expected to be $33.50 to $36.00 per hour. Exact compensation is based on skills, experience, education, and location.

Billing Supervisor Job Duties

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to resolve payment discrepancies
• Handle detailed invoice questions and inquiries from vendors and customers both internal and external
• Log and review inaccurate billing and credits with carriers
• Identify the appropriate course of action required for resolution and educate all parties involved to prevent a recurrence
• Lead process improvement
• Lead and supervise a team to ensure requests are fulfilled promptly
• Trains the team in accordance to defined work instructions
• Prepare and analyze reports to track activity and identify trends

Requirements:

• Proficient use of computer systems and applications (e.g. MS Office, TMS) as trained/required
• Able to deliver quality results consistently and on schedule. Self-motivated and follows through on team initiatives with management support
• Demonstrates outstanding customer service by proactively addressing customers' expectations. Skillfully handles difficult customer service issues with patience and determines when to escalate them to management
• Fosters relationships, resolves conflicts, and sets a positive example for others
• Demonstrates excellent communication, utilizing verbal, written, active listening and influencing skills. Asks appropriate questions and provides constructive feedback
• Incorporates a continuous improvement approach; adept at finding the root cause and drafting corrective solutions. Capable of exercising sound judgment
• Uses excellent time management skills to implement identified priorities, manage resources effectively, and oversee team productivity
• Experience with contributing to performance reviews, identifies opportunities for growth, and recognizes excellent performance
• Leads by example, fostering positive team culture. Identifies situations that require managerial support and partners with leadership to deliver feedback
• Experience overseeing the allocation of resources which meet budget expectations

Education and Experience

• High school diploma and minimum 3 years of experience in transportation billing or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience as a lead or supervisor is required

Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's essential functions require the following physical demands: operating a computer, remaining stationary for most of the shift, and occasionally moving about the workspace. The person in this position frequently exchanges information using email and other electronic communication methods and must be able to observe and report on communication received via phone and computer.
