Senior Product Manager, Catalog
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale. Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same. The Role
We’re looking for a sharp, strategic Product Manager to own the strategy and roadmap for Square’s Catalog—the foundation of how sellers represent, organize, and manage everything they sell across all channels and surfaces.
You’ll lead a cross-functional team building end-to-end catalog workflows: building quick and easy setup, supporting complex catalog management, and delivering seamless omnichannel item experiences. Catalog powers the core of sellers’ checkout experience—it’s a mission-critical product that shapes how sellers run their businesses every day across orders, fulfillment, inventory, reporting, and customer-facing channels.
In this role, you’ll drive both 0→1 and 1→n product bets, define long-term catalog strategy, and partner tightly with design, engineering, and go-to-market to launch scalable, intuitive experiences. Your work will help sellers reduce the time and effort of catalog setup and management, scale across business complexity, and unlock growth opportunities across every channel they sell on.
You Will
- Product Strategy and Vision
- Develop and own the product strategy and execution for world-class catalog experiences, driving deeper seller engagement and ecosystem adoption.
- Define and communicate the multi-year vision for Catalog as the foundation of omnichannel selling, ensuring alignment with seller needs, industry trends, and Square’s broader strategy.
- Product Development
- Lead the development of innovative, scalable catalog features across web and native platforms, focusing on accuracy, ease of management, and speed.
- Drive improvements in item setup, editing, and organization that give sellers back time and reduce operational burden.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including Design, Engineering, Data Science, and Product Marketing—to deliver intuitive, powerful workflows that scale from sole proprietors to enterprise sellers.
- Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Inspire and lead a high-performing cross-functional team, fostering an environment of creativity, efficiency, and customer obsession.
- Influence key stakeholders across Square to align Catalog strategy and prioritization with the needs of major verticals, ensuring Catalog accelerates sellers’ success across POS, online, and third-party channels.
You Have
- 8+ years of product management experience.
- A collaborative approach: You have a track record of driving alignment and delivering results with cross-functional partners.
- Vision: You’ve formed, gained buy-in, and driven key strategies shaping the multi-year direction of your team.
- Results: You have a proven track record of shipping simple, elegant products at scale.
- Efficiency: You have excellent organization and prioritization skills.
- Analytical skills: You have a great ability to absorb and apply data to your decision making.
- Execution: You’re scrappy, solution-oriented, and able to help the team push through obstacles and blockers to deliver value for our customers. Able to push through obstacles, and ready to roll up your sleeves wherever needed.
- Communication: You’re regarded as an excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
- Customer empathy: You have experience shaping product direction and execution based on customer needs.
- You have experience working through problems with high ambiguity and without a definitive answer.
- You’ve developed industry-leading products that have gained a strong followership and product loyalty.
