Marisol at The Cliffs Hotel & Spa is continuously growing and expanding! We are seeking a gracious, thoughtful, and motivated part-time Host who can create a sense of luxury while engaging with guests. Must be available to work weekday mornings. We look forward to connecting with you!

 

Position Summary:

The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating an excellent first impression for guests dining at Marisol. They maintain timely flow of reservations and walk-ins, have strong communication skills over the phone and in-person, and project positivity and happiness. They will successfully model The Cliffs' Mission and Values as they engage with the guests in their day-to-day interactions .

 

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Greet all guests with a welcoming, friendly attitude, within the first 30 seconds of entry
  • Use the guest's name in accordance with their preference, while smiling and maintaining eye contact
  • Escort guests to their table, offering chair assistance to at least one person in the party, defaulting to the guest who made the reservation
  • Engage with guests in an articulate manner, using correct verbiage and avoiding slang
  • Demonstrate genuine sense of interest and concern, and/or anticipatory service when appropriate and helpful ; guided by The Cliffs' Mission and Values
  • Share local expertise when making recommendations to guests through providing first-hand knowledge and testimony, providing directions and transportation options when appropriate
  • Demonstrate knowledge on all menu items, and be able to answer questions about dietary restrictions, preferences, or allergies
  • Politely and genuinely thank guests for choosing our restaurant upon their departure
  • Maintain and organize the reservations and make sure there are tables to accommodate them
  • Accurately assess walk-in and reservation needs, providing an estimated wait time as needed and seating the guest no more than five minutes past the quoted time
  • Understand Open Table and the protocols for making a reservation correctly
  • Assign tables to server sections and keep the flow of service running smoothly
  • Answer phones promptly for reservations, room service orders, and general restaurant requests; before taking a phone order, ask about dietary restrictions, preferences, or allergies
  • Keep hallways and hallway service areas clean from IRD activity
  • Assist servers upon their request
  • Comply promptly with the special requests of management
  • Assist as needed to maintain standards of appearance, sanitation and service in all areas of the restaurant
  • Communicate graciously and courteously with guests, management and co-workers
  • Comply fully and consistently with all the hotel and restaurant conditions of employment and standards of uniform, grooming, personal hygiene, and safety
  • Attend meetings and trainings to learn current restaurant and hotel information

 

Qualifications:

  • Restaurant experience
  • Energetic/Friendly/Positive/Reliable
  • Customer service experience

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (4-8 hours).
  • Ability to lift small packages (under 40 pounds).
  • Ability to work in stressful situations.

 

Education, Experience, Skills:

  • High school diploma
  • Working knowledge of guest services in a luxury hotel setting.
  • Excellent command of English language.
  • Ability to work with people effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and work in mentally demanding situations
  • Responsible Beverage (RBS) Trained and ABC Certified within 30 days of start date
