5th VP Enrichment Committees

Cultural Celebrations Committee:
Responsible for organizing monthly lunchtime Cultural Celebration events throughout the school year based on community and administration feedback. The committee will enrich our children’s educational experience by planning and coordinating announcements at the Flag and monthly lunchtime activities/entertainment. Celebrations will be selected in collaboration with the school administration and/or the DEI liaison to determine designated Cultural Celebrations. Chairs will work with the 5th VP and administration to circulate a cultural celebration Sign Up Genius to all Curtis parents and employees.

Time Commitment:
Throughout the school year. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings. Leads and manages monthly community member volunteers.

Families Helping Families:
The committee will gather information from One Voice to support families in need in the Los Angeles area. Curtis students will bring in specific household items requested by each of the families. Committee Chairs will create an online sign-up for each of the families. Each classroom in Grades DK – 6th will be assigned one family. Chairs are responsible for submitting information to run in CougarNotes, securing family letters from One Voice, sharing information with Grade Reps, and creating an online sign-up for each family in each classroom/grade level. Chairs will coordinate the packing of these baskets with the 5th VP and room parents on the Curtis Cares Community Service Day and organize the delivery of these baskets to the One Voice Organization. Works closely with the Director of Lower Elementary, Director of Grades 3-5, and Director of 6th Grade.

Time Commitment:
January- April. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings.

Seedlings:
The committee will work through the 5th VP to coordinate with the Director of Lower School to coordinate monthly community service/monthly life skills activities during lunchtime for DK to 2nd Grade students. One of the activities or projects should be incorporated into Curtis Cares Day. Chairs are responsible for submitting information for CougarNotes, completing facility request forms, and submitting an annual plan and calendar for approval from school administration.

Time Commitment:
Ongoing throughout the school year and Curtis Cares Day. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings.

Buds:
The committee will work through the 5th VP to coordinate with the Director of Grades 3-5 to coordinate monthly community service/monthly life skills activities during lunchtime for 3rd - 4th Grades. One of the activities or projects should be incorporated into Curtis Cares Day. Chairs are responsible for submitting information for CougarNotes, completing facility request forms, and submitting an annual plan and calendar for approval from school administration.

Time Commitment:
Throughout the school year and the Curtis Cares Day. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings.

Blooms:
The committee will work through the 5th VP to coordinate with the Director of Grades 3-5 and the Director of 6th Grade to coordinate monthly activities based on the Administration's life skill calendar. These activities take place during lunchtime for 5th and 6th Grades and are centered around supporting positive mental health strategies. Chairs are responsible for submitting information for CougarNotes, completing facility request forms, and submitting an annual plan and calendar for approval from school administration.

Time Commitment:
Ongoing throughout the school year. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings.

Curtis Cares and Curtis Cares Day:

This committee works closely with the 5th VP and Roots & Shoots to carry out donation drives, such as a Holiday Donation Drive, as well as other service learning projects throughout the year.

Chairs will also collaborate with the 5th VP and designated Curtis faculty members to plan and organize Curtis Cares Day, an all-school community service day in the spring, which includes a kick-off assembly. As part of this event, chairs help identify service projects to be completed on campus, including campus beautification, community outreach, and sustainability initiatives. All project planning will be coordinated with the administration through the 5th Vice President.

In addition, chairs will partner with other Enrichment committees to plan service components related to those groups. Chairs are also responsible for submitting information for CougarNotes, coordinating volunteer sign-ups through SignUpGenius or other platforms with Grade Reps and Room Parents, ordering supplies, and managing internal and external event communication.

Time Commitment:
November - April, possibly some weekends, and Curtis Cares Day. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings.
