Software Engineer, ComfyUI Desktop

The Role

You will be a core contributor to ComfyUI Desktop, the native application that brings one of the most popular open source AI projects to millions of users on Windows, and macOS.

Your mission is to make that first moment magical. When someone downloads ComfyUI, you're the reason it just works . You'll build the native experience that transforms a powerful but complex tool into something that feels effortless.

Example projects include…

• Building a seamless installation and onboarding experience that handles Python environments, model management, and GPU detection across platforms

• Designing a system to back-up a user's files (models, custom nodes) to be accessible from any environment

• Implementing a way to manage multiple ComfyUI environments

You might be a fit if…

• Experience building and shipping Electron or Tauri applications at scale

• Strong with TypeScript/JavaScript and comfortable navigating native APIs when needed

• Deep understanding of desktop application lifecycle: packaging, signing, distribution, and updates across Windows/macOS/Linux

• Care deeply about user experience polish — the small details that make software feel right

• Familiarity with Python packaging/environment management (conda, venv, pyinstaller)

• Bonus: Experience with ComfyUI or other node-based creative tools

About Us

We are a small, intense, and well-funded team in San Francisco who push ComfyUI and its ecosystem forward. Our team comes from Stability AI and Google and many contributed to the ComfyUI ecosystem way before working here.

Our organization is flat and there is no hierarchy, only categories: dev, arts, prod, ops, etc (and no, there is no one here with the title of Member of Technical Staff, it’s long and silly for a job title).

The only thing that matters is the quality of your cultural fit and execution. We work hard and demand a lot of each other.
