Reports to: Shop Supervisor Location: Bakersfield, CA (onsite)
OVERVIEW:
The primary role of the individual holding this position is the performance of high quality pump repairs, testing, and reconfigurations of KSB water market pumps, however, the position scope also includes such work on various other types of rotating equipment. Pump service technicians are required to work according to the needs of KSB, in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the Company, including periodic overtime assignments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Pump and rotating equipment repair (predominately KSB water market product).
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders in performance of required maintenance and associated service(s)
  • Read and comprehend technical documentation (e.g. drawings) and to create thorough inspection and test reports. Must be able to communicate with internal and external persons in a professional manner
  • Proficient use of pneumatic, power, and hand tools
  • Perform diversified services, including but not limited to teardowns, inspections/troubleshooting (physical and written), voltage conversions, impeller trims/change-outs, and repairs on pumps, rotating equipment, and related product, both in the shop and in the field
  • May assist with removals, installations, troubleshooting, repairs and services on pumps, rotating equipment, and related product, in the field, at a customer site.
  • Maintain accurate material, parts, and labor records
  • Ensure quality and quantity of work to KSB standard
  • Keep usage of material for orders at an optimal level, mindful of cost, w/o sacrificing quality
  • Interface with internal and external individuals and companies, as required
  • Organize and maintain a safe and clean work area (good housekeeping practices).
  • Show initiative to identify and suggest improvements to internal processes.
  • Ensure the usage of proper protective safety equipment, and work according to KSB Company policies and procedures. Properly and safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and cranes, as required
  • Participate in on- and off-site training. Implement newly trained skills and help train colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned by Shop Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Training – Ability to receive and retain training on various hand tools and all types of equipment, most predominately associated with KSB water market pumps
  • Communication – Must be able to effectively communicate with internal colleagues in the shop and other departments throughout the Company; and, when required, with supply partners and customers, while in the field or the shop
  • Physical Demands –Ability to stand for an extended period of time. Frequent heavy lifting, 50 pounds or less. On occasion, may need to work at a variety of locations when on a field job
  • Environmental – Could have exposure to hazardous chemicals or materials. Environmental conditions will vary based on client operations when in the field. Corresponding safety procedures must be followed
  • Effective Project Fulfillment - including managing deadlines; identifying applicable stakeholders; demonstrated ability to understand, communicate, and achieve job and performance goals
  • Time Management – Reliable attendance; manages time for the day-to-day operations in adherence to job requirements and cognizant of established standards
  • Professionalism – Ability to deal with pressure and conflict positively. Demonstrate self-confidence and positive attitude. Demonstrate productive use of time, per assignments and shop needs
  • Deductive Reasoning – Demonstrate ability to apply general rules to specific problems, in order to produce logical and sensible answers
  • Mechanical Skills – Knowledge of metric and imperial system and ability to perform conversions between the two measurement systems a plus
  • Computer Skills – Working familiarity with MS Office products, particularly Word and Excel
  • Safety – Demonstrates personal responsibility in adherence to Company safety guidelines, including OSHA Safety & Health guidelines, when performing in the shop, incorporating customer requirements when in field
  • Detail oriented – Attention to detail is required at all times
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Effectively conversant in English, both written and verbal
  • Minimally 3 years of mechanical experience; pump or rotating equipment mechanics a plus
  • Basic understanding of electrical motor wiring, preferred
  • Welding knowledge a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Capability to drive a service truck pulling a trailer, preferred
