Join our Risk Innovation Team, where data meets cutting-edge technology to safeguard BILL and our customers. As an Associate Risk Data Scientist, you'll play a foundational role in supporting the team’s mission to identify, analyze, and mitigate financial risks crucial to our continued growth. What you'll do:

• Develop and deploy machine learning models to detect fraud, model transaction risk, and improve credit underwriting.


• Analyze and monitor credit portfolios to minimize losses.


• Design experiments to evaluate the impact of data science solutions on user experience.


• Communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including business partners and executives.


• Proactively identify and address process pain points, providing sustainable and impactful solutions.

We’d love to chat if you have:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or the Physical Sciences .


• Experience in data analysis and statistical modeling using tools like Python and SQL .


• Understanding of a wide range of machine learning techniques ( e.g., clustering, classification, regression, neural networks, anomaly detection ) and their application to business problems.


• Ability to navigate ambiguity and guide projects toward clear, actionable business outcomes.


• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.


• PLUS: Experience applying data science and analytics to solve risk-related problems.

The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

San Jose pay range

$95,700—$114,400 USD
