Location
Candidates who live in and are authorized to work in the United States will be considered (preference in San Francisco, CA). While this is a work-from-home role, some travel may be required.
About the position :
The Chief Marketing Officer will build and manage the global marketing organization for ArangoDB. This person will be a member of the Executive Team and report directly to the CEO. This role will manage the overall vision and strategy for the marketing roadmap. Specifically, the ideal candidate will own the following responsibilities :
Roles & Responsibilities :
- Promote the company as an industry innovator to the press and public, managing all outbound communications across the website, blog, and social media channels.
- Set clear marketing objectives, define target audiences, develop and execute strategies, and track adoption through measurable KPIs.
- Maintain and align roadmaps with company vision and long-term strategy.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams, representing the voice of the customer and delivering actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a marketing team covering product marketing, partner marketing, content creation, demand generation, and brand strategy.
- Develop metrics and ROI-driven KPIs to assess campaign success and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Communicate marketing strategies with internal teams, gathering feedback to refine priorities.
- Create and own go-to-market (GTM) strategies for new products and features, driving demand through customer and prospect engagement.
- Evolve and strengthen brand positioning, ensuring consistent messaging that resonates with target audiences.
- Manage and scale the marketing budget efficiently, optimizing channel mix for growth while maintaining long-term sustainability.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Proven marketing leadership experience in the enterprise software sector, with a strong track record in building complex systems.
- Demonstrated success in scaling businesses from ~$10M to $250M+ in revenue.
- Extensive experience in developing and executing go-to-market strategies for SaaS platforms, including targeted paid advertising, online / offline events, and content marketing (white papers, case studies, blogs, etc.).
- Skilled in building and managing global marketing teams within diverse, distributed organizations.
- Background spanning both large enterprises and high-growth startups, ideally in Cloud / SaaS environments, with direct involvement in significant growth trajectories.
