Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III NICU position at an acute care community hospital in Apple Valley, CA, requiring at least 1 year of NICU specialty experience and an active CA RN license.

Details

• Level III NICU at an acute care community hospital with approximately 190 births per month
• Patient population includes neonates across all gestational age ranges (under 24 weeks through 34+ weeks)
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM
• Every other weekend required, with potential to exceed based on unit needs
• No on-call or floating to like units required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Free parking available on-site

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, NRP Advanced (candidates willing to obtain Advanced NRP before start may be considered), and PALS
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in NICU specialty
• Travel nursing experience required; candidates with 2+ years of NICU experience may be considered without prior travel experience
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in NICU skills including IV therapy, central line care, UAC/UVC management, arterial line management, and neonatal medication administration
• Respiratory skills required including ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP), Bubble CPAP, HFNC, and suctioning (ETT/NT)
• Ability to support neonatal conditions such as NAS, seizure disorders, respiratory distress syndrome, and hyperbilirubinemia
• 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Valid LA fire card obtained within the last 30 days required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include comprehensive NICU nursing care such as APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, phlebotomy, phototherapy, feeding support (bottle, breast, gavage), and patient/family teaching
• All travelers may be expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
• Holiday coverage is required — candidates must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be accommodated
• Candidates must disclose any prior work at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem), including location and dates
• Former permanent staff of this health system must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a different pay rate
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
