Key Job Details – CVICU RN Locum Tenens Position

• Location: Madison, WI 53792 (Wisconsin nursing jobs)
• Unit: Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplant ICU (CVICU)
• Position Type: Locum tenens / Travel Registered Nurse
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 09/08/2025 – End: 12/08/2025)
• Shifts: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts/week, every other weekend, some holidays
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2200–$2260
• Patient Population: Adult ICU patients
• Unit Size: 27 beds, average daily census of 26

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin or compact state RN license (required at submission)
• BLS & ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care CVICU nursing experience (within the last 3 years)
• Proficiency with NextStage CVVH machine (required)
• EPIC charting experience within the last 12 months (preferred)
• Strong arrhythmia and telemetry skills; must pass telemetry exam
• Experience in cardiothoracic surgery and/or acuity-adaptable units preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (no local candidates)
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and advanced cardiac device procedures
• Operate and monitor advanced clinical equipment: CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO
• Interpret and manage complex cardiac rhythms; respond to critical care emergencies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and support staff
• Float to other critical care units as needed to support hospital staffing
• Assist with planned and emergent procedures, supporting both patients and colleagues
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC; adhere to all hospital policies and protocols
