Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Barbara, California. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone with expertise in corporate tax and accounting processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. Responsibilities: - Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations. - Manage sales tax reporting and filings, addressing any discrepancies or issues promptly. - Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain accurate financial data. - Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly documented. - Collaborate with internal teams to support audits and provide necessary documentation. - Analyze financial statements and reports to identify trends and discrepancies. - Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. - Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance. - Provide recommendations for improving accounting processes and efficiency. Requirements - Proven experience in tax preparation and reporting. - Proficiency in recording journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts. - Familiarity with financial statement analysis and reporting. - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. - Ability to work collaboratively with teams and independently when required. - Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
