This position is based in San Francisco, CA. It is primarily remote with a preference to spend one day a week in office.

Your day to day
- Engineer: Implement well-tested features in our web applications and back-end loan origination services.
- Maintain a high quality bar: Champion code quality with thorough PR review, focusing on test automation using unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
- Reduce Technical Debt: Identify and act on opportunities to improve the existing code base before accomplishing the task at hand.
- Execute: Focus on delivering high impact initiatives that provide value to the customer on a daily basis.
- Collaborate: Work in a highly collaborative environment both closely with other engineers,and with our design and product teams as well as with our business stakeholders to build the right solutions for our customers.
- Think Customer-first: Ensure that our customers are successful and happy.
- Define Technical Strategy: Build software consistent with the company’s technical strategy and architectural design. Contribute new ideas and improvements to the architecture.

We are looking for frontend, backend and full stack engineers. It all depends on where you can have the most impact. We have both functional and cross-functional teams. - Programming Languages: Ruby, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Kotlin are the languages we use most. We expect that if you’ve learned more than one programming language you can learn ours.
- Frontend Frameworks: React, GraphQL, Next.js
- Backend Frameworks: Rails, Node.js, Kafka
- Databases: Postgres, Redis
- Service Oriented Architecture: We are shifting from being a monolithic Rails application to a distributed set of services. Experience having done this in the past is super useful to us.
- AppSec: We handle customer’s private information and we move billions of dollars around. Having experience with application security is important to us.

Back Office Experience Team (BOX):
The BOX team is the backbone of Kiavi’s financial integrity. We are the stewards of the loan from the moment it’s funded until the final payoff, ensuring every dollar moves with absolute precision. Our work is primarily focused on our internal power users, the folks who keep the lights on and the engines running. We tackle the high-stakes world of sensitive money movements, where being “detail-oriented” isn’t just a buzzword; it’s our fundamental requirement for maintaining trust and accuracy.
Because we oversee the entire breadth of the loan’s journey, we have a unique vantage point to identify where the gears of our financial machinery grind. We are currently tasked with evolving our servicing and money movement architecture, moving away from manual interventions toward automated, bulletproof systems. This involves deep dives into reconciliation logic, perfecting disbursement workflows, and ensuring our internal tools are as robust and sophisticated as the capital markets they support. Kiavi takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. Work locations are categorized into one of three tiers based on cost of labor for that geographic area. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Region 1 (SF) - $128,000 - $192,000 + equity + benefits

- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Kiavi offers free employee-only coverage for medical, dental, and vision plans. Dependents receive a heavily discounted premium, competitively placed in the 90th percentile for cost.
- Health Savings Account (HSA): For those enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), Kiavi provides an annual employer contribution to HSAs: $1,000 for individual coverage and $2,000 for dependents.
- Disability and Life Insurance: Immediate access to short-term and long-term disability insurance, as well as group life and AD&D insurance, with coverage at 1x annual salary.
- Remote Work Policy: Kiavi supports working remotely for day to day activities for most roles and occasionally may ask employees to gather in person for key meetings, training, team building etc. For remote workers, Kiavi offers a one-time office setup reimbursement of up to $500 and a monthly $85 stipend for internet and phone expenses. For in-office workers, Kiavi offers employer contributions to commuter benefits account, either for parking or public transportation.
- Flexible Time Off: Employees are empowered to manage their own time off, with no strict limits, as long as it's approved by their manager.
- Paid Leaves: Up to 8 weeks of paid leave for medical or caregiver purposes, and 12 weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave. Short-term disability leave is also available for birthing mothers.
- 401(k) & Company Match: A 401(k) plan managed by Fidelity, with Kiavi matching 100% of contributions up to 3% of compensation or $8,000 (whichever is less). All employer contributions are immediately vested.
