Director of Social Services

The Grove Post Acute Care Center

The primary purpose of the position is to assist in planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the overall operation of our facility’s Social Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Director of Social Services and/or Administrator, to assure that the medically related emotional and social needs of the resident are met/maintained on an individual basis. Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent for Designee. Must possess certification to be employed in a skilled nursing facility as a Social Services Director. RATE of Pay Competitive to be discussed at time of interview.

Employee must be able to:

1. Move intermittently throughout the workday.

2. Speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.

3. Cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

4. Have sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.

5. Function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.

6. Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

7. Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

 

 

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (continued) – Employee must be able to:

8. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

9. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.

10. Be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.

11. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

12. Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

13. Have a working knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to skilled nursing facilities.

14. Demonstrate leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

15. Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing resident care.

16. Relate information concerning a resident’s condition as indicated.

17. Not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
