Job Description and Duties
Come join us! The Nutrition Services Division (NSD) is looking for an experienced Supervisor ll to lead and oversee the work products of managers and staff in the Technology and Data Administration.
The NSD provides leadership and support so that it can, through local Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) Operators, provide quality nutrition, education, and services that promote the health, well being, and educational potential of California's children and families. The role of the Supervisor ll is to oversee and provide guidance for two units that provide information technology (IT) and data management support to the NSD, which consists of more than 220 in-house and out-stationed, permanent and temporary staff.
The Technology Support Unit (TSU) provides IT support and leads process improvement initiatives for the Nutrition Services Division (NSD). TSU is responsible for first-line IT troubleshooting and resolution, managing IT inventory and procurement, coordinating and approving web content for posting, and overseeing the NSD Listserv system used for mass communications to food program sponsors. In addition, TSU manages all IT, web, and media support activities across the division. The Data Management Unit (DMU) maintains and provides technical assistance for the Child Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS), a web-based, significantly modified, off-the-shelf system used for submitting and processing nutrition program data, reimbursement claims, and USDA Foods. Responsibilities include: Technical support for CNIPS to CNP Operators and NSD staff; data quality control, maintenance, and reporting; oversight of CNIPS Help Desk and mailbox; CNIPS project management support; data integrity, mapping, interface coordination, site modifications, and license reconciliation; collaboration with Technology Services Division on report development and support services; oversight of complex data projects, extractions, statistical reporting, and analysis; and ensuring data accuracy and timeliness in reports submitted to USDA, NSD staff, advocates, and the public. DMU leadership provides direction and support to the Supervisor I, who leads the CNIPS project team and drives process improvements and reporting enhancements.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. Working Conditions
TELEWORK OPTION
HYBRID
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills across diverse audiences.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and other relevant software.
• Strong background in IT and database management, including data analysis, reporting, and collaboration
with IT professionals.
• Proven project management skills with experience leading complex initiatives.
• Experience leading and developing professional staff, including setting priorities, delegating assignments, and evaluating performance.
• Strong knowledge of program management and supervisory practices.
• Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and ensure timely, accurate outcomes.
• Skilled in aligning data analysis with organizational goals and presenting actionable insights.
