Brain Tumor Neurosurgeon (University Medical Line)

Stanford University
Stanford, CA

Assistant of Associate Professor: Brain Tumor Neurosurgeon

The Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a full-time brain tumor neurosurgeon at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the University Medical Line, based primarily at Stanford University Medical Center. We are particularly interested in candidates who are outstanding surgeon-scientists with a strong commitment to advancing the academic mission through clinical excellence, teaching, and translational research. This recruitment will further strengthen Stanford's nationally recognized brain tumor program and support its continued programmatic growth, including recent leadership expansion in Neuro-Oncology.

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

We seek an individual who will establish and lead a wet laboratory focused on primary brain tumor biology, with an emphasis on translating discoveries into early-phase and investigator-initiated clinical trials while expanding the clinical trials portfolio and advancing multidisciplinary collaboration.

Candidates must have completed neurosurgery training, be board-certified or eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, and be eligible for a California medical license. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence or strong potential in clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activity, with a trajectory toward regional or national recognition. In addition to advancing surgical innovation for primary brain tumors, this individual will play a key role in expanding clinical capacity, strengthening the translational research pipeline, and elevating Stanford's leadership in brain tumor research and care.
