Job Description

As a Senior Director, Supply Chain , at Gilead you will provide enterprise-level leadership for end-to-end supply chain planning and materials management supporting highly regulated manufacturing operations serving global markets.

This role is accountable for defining and executing strategy across production planning, purchasing, material control, inventory management, and logistics. Operating with significant autonomy, you will set regional and global direction, establish operational precedent, and ensure compliance with EU and international cGMP requirements while enabling reliable supply and cost-effective operations.

This position is located in LaVerne, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the strategic business operations of more than one Supply Chain department and/or function and provides leadership over additional Gilead-wide supply chains.

  • Ultimate responsibility for staff development, budgeting and cost control, and multi-function strategic planning.

  • Provides leadership and guidance on developing a strategic plan for the entire function - Uses extensive knowledge of all Supply Chain sub functions areas and Gilead’s business strategies and goals to develop the functional strategic plan.

  • Models strong leadership, accountable for talent mapping, succession planning and the development of strong leaders within the function.

  • Inspires culture and institutes key processes necessary to achieve long and short-term strategic goals.

  • Competent in both strategy and execution and responsible for translating Supply Chain strategy into plans of action.

  • Advice is sought by senior leadership on key issues where guidance is relied upon to assess possible challenges and evaluate strategies.

  • Anticipates shifts in industry trends and regulatory environment that will impact Gilead’s business needs and positions the function to respond accordingly.

  • Coordinates the activities of department management, and provides direction and assistance on resolution of complex issues, compliance issues and potential problems related to production planning and material management.

  • Makes or recommends appropriate decisions consistent with strategic direction.

  • Manages projects and initiatives which have broader impact across the entire business, and which solve strategic business problems (e.g. movement of distribution center; centralizing processes)

  • Ensures that departments operate in accordance with department SOPs which meet regulatory and GMP standards.

  • Inspires the culture and institutes key processes necessary to achieve long and short-term strategic goals.

  • Develops and leads strategic initiatives that have a direct impact on Gilead’s business goals.

  • Partners with senior leadership across Gilead to ensure corporate long-term business objectives are met.

  • Establishes and publishes Key Performance Indicators.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally and geographically with stakeholders to ensure that product distribution processes are aligned to the needs of Gilead and its customers, ensuring that best practice, compliance and alignment with business needs.

  • Interfaces with Regulatory agencies as required representing Gilead to authorities and regulatory inspectorates.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrates in-depth understanding and application of GMP principles, concepts, practices and standards in the US and internationally.

  • Is able to develop and improve complex concepts, techniques, and standards and new applications based on quality principles and theories.

  • Is able to develop solutions to complex problems, which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovativeness.

  • Demonstrates an ability to exercise judgment and independently determine and take appropriate action where precedent may not exist.

  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of industry best practices and trends.

  • Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Has successful experience managing People Managers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related discipline and at least 16 years of progressively responsible experience in supply chain, production planning, or materials management; or

  • Master’s degree (MA/MBA or equivalent) and at least 14 years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience with accountability for multi-site or multi-country supply chain operations.

  • In-depth expertise in EU and international cGMP regulations within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading enterprise or regional supply chain strategy within a global biopharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Proven success directly interfacing with global regulatory authorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish operational precedent and influence enterprise-level decisions.

  • Experience driving global SOP harmonization and cross-regional process standardization.

  • Strong executive communication skills and the ability to lead across multinational organizations and external partners.

The salary range for this position is: $221,000.00 - $286,000.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
