Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

Under the direction of the Supervisor II (Supervisory) of the Talent Acquisition Team (TAT), the incumbent directly and through subordinate staff, provides advice, guidance and recommendations to department managers and supervisors on complex and sensitive classification and pay issues. Provides technical guidance to HR staff while analyzing and determining whether the application of classification and pay actions are in compliance with all CalHR and SPB laws, rules, guidelines, policies, and government codes. Upholds the CalHR allocation guidelines when determining changes to classifications, duty statements, and reviewing and approving personnel action requests completed by staff. Reviews salary determinations, transfer determinations, hiring-above-minimum packages, alternate range criteria, leaves of absences, out-of-class claims, merit issue complaints, and reinstatement rights. Independently performs the most complex classification and pay related tasks. Researches, perform studies and make recommendations for the solution of the most complex classification and compensation problem. Reviews and make decisions or recommendations on request to fill vacancies or establish, reclassify or transfer positions.

Working Conditions

Part-time telework available. Telework requires California residency. This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.

  • Experience handling multiple courses of action simultaneously.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to resolve sensitive personnel issues.
  • Ability to express ideas, facts, and information verbally and in written form in a clear, accurate, and organized manner.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.
