Maintenance Technician I - 1 Shift

The Maintenance Technician Level I works under minimal supervision, is responsible for performing routine maintenance on mills and lathes throughout the facility. Troubleshoots mechanical problems and repairs in-house or recommends outside repair. Works with management to maximize machine capacity and minimize down time. Perform other maintenance/repair tasks on various equipment such as cranes, forklifts, pumps, etc. May be assigned responsibility for safety/environmental/regulatory programs. May train others. PRIMARY DUTIES
Include the following but other duties may be assigned. *
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on CNC mills, lathes, and other shop machinery.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain fluid levels (coolants, lubricants, hydraulic oils) to support production requirements.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of mechanical issues such as leaks, worn components, lubrication failures, or minor alignment issues.
- Support higher-level technicians with complex repairs, part replacements, and machine diagnostics.
- Help identify and communicate potential issues before they lead to downtime.
- May oversee tasks of outside contractors/equipment repair personnel.
- Assist in maintenance of facility systems including compressors, pumps and other plant equipment.
- Support basic electrical, plumbing, and maintenance housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Help monitor performance of overhead cranes, forklifts, jib cranes, and other material-handling systems.
- Maintain work areas, tools, and maintenance shop organization.
- Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Immediately report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.
- Participate in safety training, audits, and continuous improvement activities.
- Reports unsafe conditions to manager. Report to management all accidents and injuries immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure spare parts, tools and materials are readily available and inventoried.
- Assist other department and/or areas as requested by management or supervisor.
- Follows all company policies and safety guidelines. Attend all safety training as scheduled.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently under minimal supervision, manage deadlines and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends on a regular basis, and respond to emergency calls.
This position does not oversee any personnel. SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
- 2 – 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in aerospace, or machine-shop environments, supporting CNC mills/lathes, automation, facility systems
- Some working knowledge of electrical.
- Strong knowledge of mechanics of 3- to 5-axis machines (e.g., Mitsubishi, Mori-Seiki, Okuma) and other large mills and lathes.
- Proven experience with CNC mill/lathe diagnostics and repair: mechanical, electrical, servo/drive systems, spindles, axes, tooling systems.
- Working knowledge of facility systems including electrical, plumbing, cranes, pumps, compressed air and material handling.
- Forklift, boom-lift and scissor-lift operator experience, or ability and willingness to become certified.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, able to independently diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues.
High School or G.E.D. Certificates/AA degree in industrial maintenance, machining, mechanical repair or CNC fundamentals is preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work at heights (usage of booms, scissor-lifts etc)
- Strong manual dexterity to use tools, reach into equipment and perform mechanical task.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 10% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and 90% of the time in the facility. When working in the facility it requires the use of personal protective equipment including (but not limited to) safety slip/ oil resistant shoes, safety glasses, safety gloves as well as other PPE dependent on the work being performed.
