This is a 12-month limited-term position and may be extended to a maximum of 24-months and/or may become permanent based on operational needs.

Working Conditions

Working conditions include use of a computer for several hours a day which involves sitting most of the time but may include walking or standing for brief periods. Attend meetings, workshops and training associated with job duties. Work hours and schedules may vary. Must be able to travel to all parts of California.

The reporting work location for this position is the CDSS headquarters building at 744 P Street, centrally located in the downtown area of Sacramento, CA. The building features an on-site gym and a child care center. There are also nearby parking options as well as many restaurants and eateries in the surrounding area.

This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. For positions advertised in more than one location, headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

Candidates selected for the interview process will be required to provide a copy of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class issue by the Department of Motor Vehicles, as well as a copy of their degree/diploma with unofficial transcripts.


Appointment to this position is subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

This position is designated under the Conflict-of-Interest Code.


This position may be subject to the SROA/Surplus process.

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to the appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.

• Strong analytical, organizational, time management and detail-oriented skills

• Strong writing skills are required
