Correctional Sergeant
Job Description and Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Correctional Lieutenant and the indirect supervision of the Correctional Captain, the Sergeant is responsible for the safety, security, and operation of the correctional facility, including the arsenal, dining room, kitchen, visiting room, cell blocks, storeroom, receiving and release unit, or control room. The Sergeant is responsible for the direct supervision of Correctional Officers and inmates. This position supervises custody staff working with inmates in the Mental Health Services Delivery System. You have a key role in ensuring collaboration between custody, nursing and mental health staff. You shall ensure assigned staff assigned staff are utilizing de-escalation techniques, show a willingness to motivate inmates to attend all out of cell activities, and are collaborating across disciplines, etc.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Working Conditions
CSP-SAC is primarily a Level IV institution, consisting of twenty- four (24) semi-autonomous 180 designed housing units and one (1) stand alone Administrative Segregation Unit all surrounded by a Lethal Electrified Perimeter Fence. There is also a Level I Minimum Support Facility (MSF). CSP-SAC has three of the four level of care identified by the Mental Health Services Delivery System, Correctional Clinical Case Management System, Enhanced Outpatient Program, and Mental Health Crisis Bed. CSP-SAC is on 882 acres, sharing this property with Folsom State Prison, Folsom Women’s Facility, and California Prison Industry Authority. In 2012, CSP-SAC was the first institution in California to achieve American Correctional Association accreditation with 98.6 percent score.
History
CSP-Sacramento is located adjacent to Folsom State Prison. When it first opened in 1986, the prison was administered by the Folsom warden and was called New Folsom. In October 1992, its name was changed to CSP-Sacramento, and was administered as a separate prison with its own warden.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.When submitting supporting documents, PDF file format is preferred.
