Year-long position. Extensive around event time and could include evenings and independent work times. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings. Fair Chairs:
This committee, of three to five Chairs, has the amazing and important job of coordinating all the details for the beloved annual Curtis Fair! Every year, Fair Chairs bring the Curtis Fair to life (usually starting in January) by selecting a fair theme, concepting and designing a logo, and sourcing merchandise. They continue to hit the ground running when they join the Fundraising Committee, also in January, and participate in transition meetings with the prior year's Fair Chairs. Fair Chairs are voting members of the Fundraising Committee, which meets once a month. Right after Spring Break, the Fair Chair Team, under the guidance of the 3rd VP and President of the Parents Association, conducts the selection of Fair Committees from the Spring Self-Nominations. This job requires an understanding of budgets, an ability to manage and oversee numerous committees, time management, and, finally, event coordination! This fair team is responsible for overseeing, creating, producing, and fulfilling fair merchandise, alongside the Third VP and the President, with the assistance of the Merchandise Committee. Above all, it is an amazing opportunity to give back to Curtis School in a fun and memorable way, and get to know everyone in the Curtis community!
Time Commitment:
Preliminary work begins in January, with the launch of merchandise sales in late spring. Significant work takes place over the summer, but the heaviest time commitment and majority of responsibilities occur in September and early October, continuing through the weekend of the event. This role requires on-campus availability, and weekly meetings may begin as early as three months prior to the event. The final month leading up to the event is especially active.
This committee supports fundraising for the school year from the time of appointment through the following January, when the new Fair team is appointed.

Curtis Celebrates! Chairs:This group of four to five Chairs will be responsible for the PA’s largest fundraiser of the year. Help plan this “adults only” fundraiser with a silent and live auction held in early March for our entire parent body, faculty, and staff. This committee will officially start planning this fun-filled evening in early March and also join the Fundraising committee to transition with the prior year’s Chairs. The first order of business will be clearing a date, understanding the budget, setting fundraising goals and strategy for the silent and live auction, choosing the location, food, drink, entertainment, and auctioneer. Chairs will design and send out the invitation and manage RSVP’s. With the guidance of the 3RD VP and President, the Chairs will also be responsible for building a subcommittee of additional parents to help secure auction items, edit and print the catalog, or any other additional positions that are needed for the event. Please note that there is a generous but firm budget set for the party and the auction needs. Budget management is imperative.
Time Commitment:
Historically, preliminary work begins in February with venue discussions. This year, work will start in March. Once a venue is selected, the majority of the work takes place when school is back in session and an auction plan is put in place.
This committee serves on the fundraising committee, which meets once a month, from the time of appointment until the new team is in place in early spring.

Committee members will help find hosts from all grades for parties, coordinate with the Curtis Administration and PA Executive Committee to create a calendar of events, and coordinate with hosts to write an online catalog to detail each party. The Party Book committee is responsible for managing the parties and corresponding website management, including waitlist management, facilitating charges or refunds as necessary.
